First Work has developed two units for conducting research: EVIDENCE and Hire Prospects. Piloted in 2007, Hire Prospects is a unique research service that engages youth across Ontario to respond to web-based surveys through First Work’s network of over 70 service organizations. Network partners see over 100,000 youth a year from multiple communities, 25% of whom are at-risk and hard-to-reach. Hire Prospects has collaborated with government departments, community organizations and research institutes to investigate issues regarding youth. As a feature of this service, youth are provided with honoraria, giving staff from across the network an opportunity to engage youth in services who otherwise would not use them.
