The Impact of Poverty on Youth in Ontario
In March 2009, Voices for Children, a non-profit organization that advocated on behalf of Ontario's nearly four million young people, wished to build on its nascent work on engagement of marginalized youth. As a result, Voices for Children approved a grant application from EVIDENCE to undertake research into the impact of poverty on youth in Ontario. Phase 1 will identify research priorities in regards to the impact of poverty on youth in Ontario. Phase 2, building on these findings, will identify the existing fragmentation of services by describing and documenting the gaps and disconnects that youth experience, and the lived experience of poverty as youth face it on a day-to-day basis. The overarching objective is to inform the development of a co-ordinated youth services framework across sectors that will help youth service organizations and government policy makers place youth on pathways to success.

This project is using two committees made up of stakeholders from across the province. For more information contact Lavinia Lamenza, Research Manager, at: (416) 323-9557 x229 or at: llamenza@evidenceconsulting.org.

Youth Voice on the Recession
Hire Prospects is gathering information from youth across Canada about their experiences and the challenges they face in the job market during the economic downturn. For more information contact Matt Wood, Executive Director, at: (416) 323-9557 x224 or at: mwood@firstwork.org.

Hire Prospects Online Lounge
