EVIDENCE’s participatory approach enables organizations and groups to tailor the research and evaluation to meet their specific information needs. The approach engages stakeholders and balances their organization’s available resources available within the organization with those provided by EVIDENCE. This ensures that the organization is invested, and that the findings will be relevant, understandable, and useable.  

The process consists of three stages and generates compelling evidence for decision-making. EVIDENCE uses a Stakeholder Committee, and its role varies based on each organization’s unique circumstances. Some organizations have used the Stakeholder Committee to develop collaborations, and others have used it in an advisory capacity regarding program development and community engagement beyond the project.
